Green light for $80m music ‘amphitheater’ in El Paso, Texas

Venu, formerly Notes Live, will start construction of the 12,500-capacity Sunset Amphitheater towards the end of this year.

It is being developed through a public-private partnership between the City of El Paso and Venu. The City Council has approved a $30.6 million performance-based economic incentive package that includes:

• The conveyance of 17 acres of City-owned land for development purposes
• Tax rebates
• An $8 million, eight-year development note from the Texas Economic Development Fund
• Shared parking for exclusive use on event days

Venu said that the Sunset Amphitheater, which will anchor the Cohen Entertainment District in northeast El Paso, will host national and international acts coming through the Southern US and northern Mexico. It’s set to open for the 2026 touring season.

The developer claims that it will generate $5.4 billion in economic impact for El Paso.

In the last 12 months, Venu opened a new venue in Gainesville, GA, and announced new music and entertainment complexes in Broken Arrow, OK, Oklahoma City, OK, and McKinney, TX.

The open-air Ford Amphitheater in Colorado Springs, CO also broke ground in July 2023 and is set to open on 9 August.
